Tutorial: Reading Your Calendar From the Browser Extension Popup

What the popup shows you
Click the manyCalendars icon in your browser toolbar to open the popup. It displays a compact view of today's events pulled from all your connected calendars. Each event shows the time, title, and a color-coded dot indicating which calendar it belongs to.
Events are listed chronologically. Past events are slightly dimmed. Your current or next upcoming event is highlighted so you can immediately see what is happening now or what is coming up next. If an event has a video conference link (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams), a "Join" button appears next to it. One click and you are in the call.
At the top of the popup, a small conflict indicator mirrors the topbar count from the full app. If there are scheduling conflicts today, you will see them flagged here with the same red styling used in the main calendar view.
How it syncs from the main app
The popup reads from the same local data store as the main manyCalendars app. When the main app syncs your calendar tabs or ingests ICS feeds, the popup automatically has access to that data. There is no separate sync process and no delay between what you see in the app and what you see in the popup.
One important note: the popup shows data from the most recent sync. If you have not opened the main app today, the popup will display data from your last session. For the freshest data, open the main app briefly to trigger a new sync, then use the popup for quick checks throughout the day. Most users open the full app once in the morning and rely on the popup after that.
The 10-second glance workflow
The popup is designed for speed. Here is the workflow that most manyCalendars users settle into:
Before your first meeting: Click the manyCalendars icon. Scan today's events. Check the conflict indicator. If everything looks clean, close the popup and start your day. Total time: about 10 seconds.
Between meetings: Click the manyCalendars icon. See what is next. If the next event has a Join link, click it directly from the popup. No need to open a separate calendar tab, find the event, and dig for the meeting link. Total time: about 5 seconds.
When someone asks "Are you free at 3?": Click the manyCalendars icon. Scroll to 3 PM. See all events across all calendars for that time slot. Answer confidently. Total time: about 5 seconds, and you did not have to open three different calendar tabs to check.
When to use the popup vs the full app
The popup is for quick reads: what is next, is there a conflict, can I join this call. The full app is for planning: rearranging meetings, exporting availability, reviewing your week ahead, and managing your calendar connections.
Think of the popup as your dashboard and the full app as your control panel. The dashboard tells you the current state. The control panel lets you change it.
Most users open the full app once or twice a day (morning planning and an afternoon check) and use the popup a dozen times throughout the day for quick glances. That ratio, lots of quick popup checks with occasional deep dives into the full app, is the sweet spot for staying on top of a multi-client schedule without spending all day managing it.
Not using the popup yet? You already have it. If manyCalendars is installed, the popup is ready. If manyCalendars is not installed, fix that in about 30 seconds and your popup will be waiting for its first click.
